The book Of Mice and Men is mainly about the friendship of two men, Lennie and George and how they must adapt when they go to work on a farm. It is clear from the very beginning that Lennie is mentally challenged so George must take care of him. However, though people do judge them, like their boss, and are confused why two men travel together, they still fight through it and they will forever be friends.Lennie and George help each other and expand each other and help one another grow as people.

Lennie teaches George patients. Because it can be very difficult to put up with Lennie when he doesn’t remember something or doesn’t understand something, it is hard to keep on reminding Lennie why things work and why certain things are certain way. Because of this, George learns how to listen and understand others a lot better. If George never met Lennie, he would have probably grown up to be a very angry man because it is clear by some of the ways he can treat Lennie when he is mad at him. At first even, the reader almost thinks that George doesn’t even like Lennie and sees him as a burden to him and holds him down from achieving his goals. It is only until the middle of the book where the reader can tell that he really does love Lennie. In addition, Lennie is good for George because Lennie is physically very strong. It is obviously a good thing to have a strong partner because then once people that are hiring them see this trait of Lennie’s, it is a lot easier for them to find work. In addition, just the fact that Lennie teaches George what love really is and teaches him how to care for things by being his friend is fantastic.

It is clear that George teaches Lennie a lot as well. The things that George teaches Lennie are a lot less complicated and a lot more intentional but just as important. George teaches Lennie a lot of basic everyday things. Like, for example, why you can’t drink from dirty pond water, or why you can’t crush on your boss’s wife. Also, he teaches him things like how to remember certain things. Also because Lennie is such a complicated person, George is really one of the only people who understands him. So, George can teach Lennie a lot more and Lennie trusts him.

George and Lennie have a very very strong relationship and nothing can break their friendship.
